Where the Stories Begin

I believe every life is filled with stories worth telling. Some make us laugh until our sides hurt. Others bring tears, even years later. And then there are those quiet moments that don’t seem particularly important when they’re happening, but somehow become the memories we treasure most.

I’ve had my share of all of them. And with each passing year, I’ve come to appreciate just how much wisdom is tucked inside the everyday experiences of our lives.

My story

A Life Filled With Lessons

Family, faith, friendships, leadership, change, and resilience have all helped shape the woman I am today. I’ve learned that life doesn’t always turn out the way we planned, that relationships matter more than we sometimes realize, and that even our most difficult chapters can teach us something meaningful.

The detours that teach us

One thing I know for certain is that none of us gets through life without a few bumps, bruises, and unexpected detours. But somewhere along the way, we gather a whole lot of wisdom. And I believe that wisdom is meant to be shared.

Forty-five years in the classroom

For more than 45 years, education has been one of the great passions of my life. As a university professor, educator, and leader, I’ve had the privilege of teaching, mentoring, and encouraging thousands of students and women to recognize their potential and pursue possibilities they might never have imagined for themselves.

From lecture halls to world stages

Along the way, I’ve earned multiple graduate degrees in Leadership and Education Administration, including a doctorate. I’ve led award-winning programs, worked in entrepreneurship and leadership, and had the wonderful opportunity to speak before audiences around the world. And I have to tell you, there are few things I enjoy more than standing in front of a room full of people, sharing stories, exchanging ideas, and watching those wonderful moments when something just clicks.

But as meaningful as those accomplishments have been, they aren’t the things I treasure most.

The titles I’d never trade

I’m a wife, a proud Grammie, and a woman who knows that the richness of life is found in the people we love and the memories we make together. My grandbabies have a very special place in my heart, and being Grammie is a title I wouldn’t trade for any professional accomplishment.

I also love traveling with my husband, affectionately known as Pape Santa. We’ve shared adventures, made memories, and enjoyed discovering more of this beautiful world together.

Wisdom worth passing on

Through all these years of teaching, speaking, traveling, and living, I’ve learned that our experiences are worth far more than the lines they fill on a résumé. They shape our perspective, deepen our compassion, and give us stories and lessons that can encourage someone else.

That belief eventually inspired me to create the HER Life Legacy Framework™, helping women honor the journeys they’ve traveled and recognize the wisdom they have to pass along.

Today, writing has become another beautiful extension of that lifelong calling - a way to gather the lessons, memories, and experiences that have shaped my life and share them with readers who may find a little piece of their own story reflected in mine. And while I may have spent decades at the front of a classroom or speaking on a stage, I’m still learning, still growing, and still finding new stories worth telling.

Our stories have a way of connecting us.

Why I write

Wisdom Should Travel

I believe wisdom should travel. It shouldn’t stop with the person who lived the experience, learned the lesson, or survived the difficult season.

Our stories have a way of connecting us. They remind us that we’re not alone, that someone else has walked a similar road, and that our experiences have value beyond our own lives.

Whether I’m writing about family, loss, friendship, growing older, or finding purpose in a new chapter, my hope is that something in those words speaks to the person who needs to hear them.
